Dosage and how to use
One to two tablets, up to a maximum of 6 tablets per day. Swollow whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew.
Oral administration
Do not use Buscopan if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Hyoscine Butylbromide
For almost 70 years, nature has been the point of origin for hyoscine, the active ingredient in Buscopan®. This ingredient is obtained from the chemical processing of a plant called Duboisia, a large shrub that grows in Australia and South America, whose seeds are then grown in greenhouses. Hyoscine has been considered a reliable treatment for relieving abdominal cramps.

Abdominal cramps are caused by sudden, strong tightening of the smooth muscles in the gut. Once you take Buscopan®, its active ingredient hyoscine butylbromide, directly targets these muscles with an antispasmodic effect, relaxing contractions and relieving cramps that cause you pain.

Abdominal cramps are caused by sudden, strong tightening of the smooth muscles in the gut. Buscopan® is an antispasmodic medication that offers targeted relief of abdominal cramps, pain and discomfort in the stomach and gut (intestines and bowel) by relaxing the tight muscles – it acts where the pain develops, in the abdomen.

Adults 18 years and older: Take 1 or 2 tablets by swallowing tablets whole with a glass or water at first signs of pain. Do not take more than 6 tablets per day. Do not take more than directed. In case a dose has been missed, take the next dose as scheduled. Do not double the dose.

Buscopan® should not be taken on a continuous daily basis or for extended periods without investigating the cause of abdominal pain.

You should not use Buscopan® if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Talk to your healthcare professional.

Buscopan® can be taken at the first sign of abdominal cramps, pain and discomfort.
If you are taking antacids or adsorbent anti-diarrheals, your healthcare professional may tell you to take them at least 1 hour before taking Buscopan.

Buscopan’s active ingredient is sourced from the Duboisia plant.
Medicinal ingredient: Hyoscine butylbromide
Non-Medicinal ingredients: acacia, anhydrous dibasic calcium phosphate, carnauba wax, colloidal silicon dioxide, corn starch, modified starch, polyethylene glycol 6000, povidone, stearic acid, sucrose, talc, tartaric acid, titanium dioxide, and white wax.
